Active from the late 1970’s through the mid 1980’s, Colab was a highly energetic, creative and productive gathering of mostly young downtown artists in New York City. Composed only of artists, Colab advocated a form of cultural activism that was purely artist-driven, sidestepping existing institutions via their own scrappy DIY efforts.
